The purpose is to cause grief to others, with the hope that their virus (and themselves) will get publicity.

That's what I want to know?? how does that help them, I kept getting the one that says look at my pics from someone on my messenger list .& if U go to it its a virus,How the hell do they get the names on my list?? I wish I knew the answer to that one
