I'm really frustrated because I'm doing research on this company who will get me started with my dollar store with supplies, fixtures, cash registers, etc., but my husband wants me to try to research and find all these things myself. He says we may be able to save money. I tried to tell him that this company would set everything up for me for $32,000. I'm not saying I couldn't do it myself, but I would have to find and hire people myself to move fixtures and install them, not to mention that this company will help me with my lease negotiation. I can't do all the research myself as I already have a job and kids. Not to mention that my getting all the information and supplies by myself will take time and in the mean time someone else will have opened a store in the area I'm looking at, which does not have any dollar store at all and is in need of one.

I don't know what to do. I'm even thinking of divorcing my husband just so we can liquidate all of our assets and do what I want

I definitely want to start small.

I guess my husband feels I have more time on my hands than he does since I do work out of my house, but I also travel about 4 days a week.

Anyway, I'm just really mad!!!

Take a deep breath. It sounds like your husband supports the store, but is not so sure about the financing part of it. That is a lot of money, and you probably could save a lot by doing it yourself. But you are also right when you mention the kids etc. You don't have the time and energy to be doing all of the leg work.

Change the way you talk to him. Tell your husband that you would like his help. Ask him to do all of the research that he wants you to do, "because he is so much better at those kinds of things." If he does it great, if he doesn't want to do it, tell him you don't have the time to do it and that is why you want to hire this other company.

If you end up hiring out the work, you might look around for other companies that do the same thing. That is a lot of money.

Well, every time you sold an off brand of Windex, knowing it is way inferior to the Windex, you'll think: And I gave up a loving and intelligent husband for THIS? It will take all the fun out of it.
The dollar store sounds like a franchise, is it?
Hubby MAY be right, you wont owe the dollar store every month, to go otherwise.
Also, if you are female and/or non white, you may qualify for a SBA loan. Small Businessman's.
Your hubby may be right in that you could sell better quality at an inexpensive $$, start out small and work up along your way, along with a good reputation.
You decide. But save the divorce for say, infidelity, (his) if ever. Not for the buckos.
BTW, your job WILL be the store, and the kids, you'll probably be putting them to work there. Think woman!
