He pushes his tounge out of his mouth throughout the day. He does'nt have a fever, nor does he have diarreha which are some of the symptoms that I've read about thhat are associated with teething. He has been a little more crankier than usual for the last 4 days and when put to bed, he wakes up crying after one or two hours and that's unusual for him. Does this sound like he's teething????

I am a first time mom and just here to see what other people think. I have lots of common sense unlike the people here who have nothing else to do but write ignorant things.

Sounds exactly like teething. Scope out the gumline for lighter coloreed skin on the gum the discoloration is the new tooth pushing through the gumline.

Swollen gums are a good indicator, as is just being 5 month old (most babies are teething at this age). A lot of babies don't get the fever, and pediatricians will swear there is no connection (just as guys swear the washer/dryer doesn't 'eat' Baby's socks, but moms know otherwise). I think the associated diarrhea is usually caused by a lot of excess drool being swallowed in some babies.
My gut tells me that you probably know your little guy is teething and just need a little reassurance. I feel the same way with my about-to-get-a-tooth 7 month old, especially since we aren't getting much sleep. I've found orajel doesn't last long, and often irritates Baby more then anything. At night when my kids would wake up with teething I would rub my finger back and forth over their gums for a minute. It makes a squeaky sound when you're doing it right. My Grandmother swears by this, and it does seem to take the pressure off, and give relief.

First, don't let idiots get you down, second don't listen to half of what you hear. Common symptoms of teething are a slight rash, diarreha, low grade fever, swollen gums, crankiness, pulling on ears,......If you suspect it might be something else, it's bets to go to the doc. Otherwise, Hyland's make a wondeful product called Teething Tablets. You can get them at places like Walmart and CVS. They are all natural herbal tablets that dissolve on the tongue. I swear by these! Also , Tylenol works well for night time. During the day, get some washclothes wet, roll them up, and freeze them. These are great too. Good Luck and know that it will soon pass!

Yes it does sound as if he is teething. He does not have to have diarreha or fever, thats a misconception. A lot of infants getting runny noses, and crankier when teething. They could also get a small cold or ear infection which could accompany teething. My son is 16 months and working on his 9th and 10th tooth. Throughout his whole teething experience he has gotten runny noses and really cranky every time a tooth has come. He also has had problems sleeping at night which is not a normal thing. Therefore it sounds a lot like your son is teething.

Yes he is teething. Hylands Teething tablets
100% Natural No Side affects
Do not listen to that Dumb Dummy Head you are a good mother for noticing that he is teething.
Try the above product you can find them at Wal-Mart in the baby dept and in the vitamin & Supplament section look for them in both depts because in baby dept 125 tablets for about $5-4 or 250 for about $6. I get the 250 tablets in the vitamin &supplament dept on the very bottom. I think all Walmarts are the same but you never know.

Yes your son is teething. I have a 7 month old who has 2 teeth and his gums are red and they will wake up often. When they do give them a little bit of oral-jel and if they are still crying after give them 0.4grams of infiant tylonal. during the day give him a teeth that you have put in the freezer. That should help you out.

yes it is definately a sign of teething,

my son started teething at 5 months and i asked the paediatrican of some of the signs which were;
swollen gums,
alot of drooling,
lack of sleep due to pain,
smelly wee,
and sticking out the tongue more often.
and i noticed all of these my son now has 2 teeth he is 10 months old!
hope my answer helped u a little.
u can get a teething gel that will help sooth the pain & help him sleep a bit longer.
i was also told that letting him bite on a spoon sooths the pain aswell.

Could be. Does he try to chew on everything? If he does it probably is. Get him a teething ring. (the kind you put in the freezer). The cold will feel good on his gums and actually make them numb. Or you can always try orejel, or one of those other teething medications. Another thing is to kind of touch (not hard) on his gums and see if you feel anything trying to break through. Those other symptoms you mentioned, are not signs of teething.Excessive slobbering, chewing, and being cranky are.

Yes, my daughter had the exact same thing, kept her fingers in her mouth, cried more, very fussy. Her gums were very swollen and a few days later, I saw some white teeth pushing through.

Teething is defiantly going on. Putting a teething ring in the freezer is soothing for him and just baby Motrin. Try not to use baby oral gel because it will work to take the pain away but when it wears off the pain returns full force. A frozen spoon will work but you apply it while he is in your arms.
