I unsuccessfully tried to nurse a butterfly back to health but it died. I want to know what I can do to preserve it before something happens to it.

If you want to preserve it the way a scientific specimen is done you will need to freeze it then put a thin pin through its body (the thorax - where its legs come out from) and put its wings out flat each side of it between baking paper. You need to leave it like this for a couple of weeks for it to set properly and make sure it isn't where ants can get to it.

Insert a thin pin in anterior part of abdomen, treat it with potassium cyanide dry it in incubator & prick it in borad with the pin

Practically it is very tough to preserve butterfly becoz they are highly delicated organism,,,,, even if u preserve it their scales on wings soon shades,,, hence not good idea to preserve them

Well,Put in a ice cube and it will be in suspended animation and will be well preserved.....(unless it survives the freezing process) ............Well that is it!!!
