Good day, the ting is, if yur hard drive is NTFS Formatted u will have problems to install 98. If i is FAT32 u may have a better chance but here is what u can do. Insert the 98 setup cd and chooze boot from cd and then chooze starup win 98 with cd rom support. It will give u d name of yur cd rom drive eg X: Now what u do, where u see C:\> u type in X:\> and the C will switch to X. Now type in FDISK and follow the instructions. U are dealing with partitions here. Delete the secondary and logical partitions then the primary. After u create a new partition where u can use the whole Hard drive. This may take a lil time but not much. When u finished, restart the computer, boot from the cd rom and this time, chooze the setup option. What it wud do it will format yur hard drive to FAT32 which 98 uses. This may take some time again. After the format it will continue the setup. U amy be wondering if the hard drive is already FAT32 why i have to go thru all of dis? 98 may look to mix with xp directories and stuff on the HD and eventually 98 will get corrupted so this is actually a clean install of 98. I suggest u print this out. it will work if done correctly and good luck. Laterz!

The only way to do this is to reformat your hard drive and then boot it from the Windows 98 install CD. You should think twice about doing this though as undoubably you are going to run into driver problems with any hardware that was installed under XP.
