Both parties are close to being the same. As Ralph Nader put it,'The only difference between the Republicans and the Democrates is the velocity by which their knees hit the floor when the Corporations knock" In the US , through years of "Brain Washing" the term Socialist has become a very dirty word. The poor and working class have no representation in Government. There will never be any progress until the people realize they are being taken for a very expensive ride. The Dems give lip service but do nothing when they get in power. Just my opinion

There are more than two parties and it's a shame that the other parties are not given the ample media rights to have their views/candidates considered. There's an Independant party, a green party, the libertarian party, and a couple others. Some of these othere parties even have candidates in office. Laws qualifying political parties and their candidates are very strict and somewhat biased towards their only being/recognizing Dems and Pubs so many political hopefuls choose one or the other.

There are way more than just Republican and Democratic parties. These two are just the most powerful.

There are more parties. Like independant ones. But these two are the main ones. Im not american either lol

Because NO ONE supports Peace and Freedome!
Because NO ONE is a Libertarian.
Because we already have too many Social Welfare programs with the Dems and Reps, can you imagine what it would be like if someone actually voted for the Socialist Party or Communist Party members!
Because NO ONE is indepdent.

Because people are afraid to vote for the third party they REALLY like, lest their favorite of the two major parties lose for want of their vote.

Actually there are four I can think of Dems Repubs, Independents and Libertarians.
There are two Major parties.

there are other parties. "Libertarian", " Independent ",,,"Socialist", " Communist party " is even legal, but the mainstream major parties are the Republican party, and the Democratic party....
