I am buying a new home in suburban IL, and after long consideration, I have decided to go with AT&T DSL internet for $35 (up to 6 mbps) and then I was thinking about getting Vonage, but I have heard that DSL and Vonage don't work through out my whole home, only through the two phone jacks provided in the router. To get the phone connection through out my whole home, I would need Cable Internet. Is this true?

Vonage will work with either cable or DSL, but it saves the most money with cable. With cable, you don't need to keep your old phone line active at all.

With DSL, you still must to pay your local telephone company for the phone line which delivers your DSL service, even if you never use that line for calls. So your savings aren't quite as big.

Oh, and Vonage does sell wireless phones now- you plug the base into your router and use the handset throughout the house. But yes, the basic equipment plugs into your broadband connection- whichever room that's in.

We had vonage for quite awhile and it is a nice way to go. Vonage runs off a broadband connection like your DSL or Cable and yes all you can do is plug a phone into the router your other phone jacks won't work, but a way to solve that is to buy those phones that come with more then one, you just plug the main base into the phone router and then the other bases all they need is power as long as the main one is plugged into the phone you have phone service to all your phones and I must say I do like vonage they worked good for us except when anyone downloaded they the phone was staticy so keep that in mind if you download a lot don't go that route. We switched and have Mediacom not for internet, cable and phone and we love it. Havent had any problems with downloading and talking on the phone, but vonage and mediacom phone service are same in price and same features and what is nice about vonage is you can take it with you, lets say you go on vacation and you go to a hotel and they happen to have broadband internet there you bring ur phone and ur router and there ya go. Hope this helps your decision.

Before you even get into buying into Vonage, call your local cable company and see if they offer a phone service. My wife works for Charter Communications, who is launching phone in a month or so. It is a bit cheaper than Vonage is, and eliminates one more bill. On top of that, cable internet is faster than DSL and in my experience, is less prone to having problems.

He will possibly no longer have honestly pulled the set off or stabbed the knife in spite of the shown fact that it replace into via his impression all of that replace into performed. American regulation has no longer often ever been honest. He could stay in reformatory.
