Lisa stays late to work on extra credit projects, and Bart has to write all those sentences on the board. That's why they miss the bus. Marge knows it's going to happen, so she drops the bike and skateboard off at the school every day.

As far as I know, Bart always takes his board to school with him on the bus anyway in his backpack, as for Lisa, I agree with some of the other replies, as she is the parents favourite child, I guess Marge must drop her bike off at school everyday, so she does'nt have to walk.
But this does bring up another question, why is there not a school bus to take everyone home? Is it because Otto is so wasted by that time and there is nobody else willing to do it instead?

Good question! Maybe because Otto gets drunk on the bus and Lisa is forced to steal some bikes to get home while Bart stuffs his skateboard in his bag. Lisa is smart enough to work out how to unlock the bike locks and Barts bag is big enough to fit a skateboard in there.

its an animation y u got to ask lol hav u eva noticed things like a door is a different colour or an object is if its bein used or about to be bein used or the get the colour of clothes different from 2 seconds ago
an episode the other day bart was wearin a basketball vest 1 minuate then not the nxt dont know y they do it but there r so many drawings 2 make 1 episode maybe they cant b bothered or forget

Marge's hair is obviously dyed, Blue isn't a organic hair colour.of direction that's user-friendly experience and would thoroughly undermine the entire objective of the Simpsons for there isn't any such element as user-friendly experience whilst it includes that lively serial. Surely if Otto was wasted, Principal Skinner would drive the bus like he did when Otto lost his license.
Probably part of the title sequence shows what happens on a day when Lisa and Bart go to school by bus and another part of the sequence shows what happens on a day when they don't go to school by bus.

They're too lazy in the morning to get to school by skateboard or bike and Terrell J has it right about them staying late. I wish my mom had been like Marge. If I stayed after school, I had to walk.
