I would guess that your house is haunted. You need to move out right away. Or call Cleo's Psychic Hotline and get her to ask the spirits to leave for only $4.99/minute.

The opener needs a simple adjustment.

First, just think how it works. How does the door opener know how far to close the door?

Another thing to think about: When the door is closing, how does the door opener know when it strikes or hits something on the way (assuming that the safety light beam located about 6 inches above the floor is not blocked or crossed)?

Here is your answer: There is an adjustment screw located on the motor unit. Turn it counter-clockwise about 1/4 of a turn, this will shorten the travel length of the door going down. If you turn it 5 whole turns counter-clock wise, the door (when closing) will stop about 3 feet above the ground. This adjustment screw will fix your problem.

What is happening is that your door opener is trying to close the door too far down but hits the floor and goes back up because the door opener thinks that it hit some object on the way down.

There is a second adjustment screw on the motor unit that adjusts the sensitively (or the force that the door needs to hit before it can react to it and go into reverse). This adjustment should be as sensitive as possible but still allow the door to operate properly.

Good Luck.

Like what shipat13 said theres probably something in the way of the signal so at the bottom of the garage door look for an electronic black box with a red light if theres anything in the way of where the red light is move the object and that should work

Check to see that by the sensors, there is nothing blocking these ..like a bag of fertilizer or a box and also make sure that when you drive out that nothing from the 'wind' when the door goes down is blowing something in front of those sensors...possibly like a bag or something or another. The sensors are there to detect even a slight object to immediately for safety sake (thinking it may be your neck or who knows what) not to shut but to reopen. something is 'hitting' more than likely the sensors to tell it to reopen.

Your motor may be getting weak. On the motor, there should be two dials to turn. Each individual dial may indicate the garage door going up or down. Try experimenting on them by lowering the KG (or lbs if you're American) and then close and open again.

The safely light curtain at the bottom of the door way is out of alignment, there are indicator led's that indicate when they are in alignment. You need to slightly bend one of the mounts its easy good luck.
