i can't back this up because i'm not doing the research right now, but i seriously doubt that sitting around and concentrating really hard burns more calories than physical activity.

Just research for half-hour to an hour, after which take a holiday. While you're taking a holiday, do something you desire for a little bit bit, after which research a little bit bit extra.
