I was always told that a woman can expect a certain number of periods through out their lifetime. Meaning that the later you start your period, the later you start menopause.

Not at all! Of course there are many reasons why women will go through the menopause earlier than expected and women who start menstruating later in life are at risk from these as any other women, but you will not go through the menopause earlier just because you started menstruating later! Remember we are all different and go through phases at different ages, if you are still concerned please seek advice from your family doctor.

I hope this helps!

No , when you start your flow and menopause are all hereditary. Ask your mom and aunts when they started yours should be similar.
