How fast is something going this very instant, not an average and not what it might eventually be but what is it right now.

Example: You throw a ball up. Its speed is changing continuously. At a particular instant in time, it has a certain speed. Just before or after that time, it's speed is different.

Look at the first 7 letters of 'instantaneous'.........

I think it means the speed of an something at any one given instant rather than over a period of time
