I have wireless internet connection. All the icons on the bottom right of the screen say I am connected, but when I open internet explorer, it says "page can not be displayed." My roommates in the apartment can get on their computers in the room next to mine, what could be the problem?

It could be several things. Here are a couple to try. First, turn off your computer and then unplug the DSL or Cable modem. Then unplug your wireless router. Wait a few minutes and plug the modem back in. Next plug in the wireless router. Once all the lights are back on, reboot your computer. Make sure you do everything in that order.

If that doesn't work, or if the problem reoccurs, the problem may be due to interference. Open Network Connections and double click on your wireless network icon. Look at the networks that your wireless network card is picking up. You will probably see more than one. Next look at the channels that they are broadcasting on. Channel Six is the default channel for most Wireless Routers. Most people just plug in the router without changing the default broadcast channel. Too many networks in the same area using the same channel causes interference. Change the channel on your router to avoid interference with other networks. Pick the highest number that your PC is not picking up. The channels range from 6 to 11, so you want to pick channel 10 or 11 if possible. The instructions on how to do this came with your router. If you don't have the instructions, you can get them from the manufacturer's website.

It could be that your homepage is a page that can't be display or your browser setting is modified so that it does not recognize the network you are connected to.

Try Firefox for one thing, Your IE may have been hijacked. Check for viruse and Spyware, use AVG antivirus and AdAwareSE.

If nothing, recreate your network config.
