I cant understand how that I can be downgraded in my work description although my salary remains unchanged.I think that they want to get rid of me because I am highly paid and am 55 years old.Can they change my terms unilaterally without me agreeing to it..isnt it reasonable that my expecatations are to be treated as an executive and not be grouped with surbordinate employees.?

I don't think you have any legal claims here so nothing you can do about it in court. If you are a member of a union, you can take your case to the union but in non-union work, it's perfectly legal for an employer to change an employee's job description and duties as long as the changes are "reasonable." Reasonable means doing pretty much the same kind of work--- it is not unreasonable to ask you to make flight arrangements (although you may find it a bit insulting). Unreasonable would be asking you to do heavy lifting, or electrical wiring, or so forth.

I would speak with your boss to find out why this change was made. There may be a reasonable explaination, or they may be trying to get you out of there. But there's been nothing illegal done, and at this time if you choose to leave, it's not being dismissed--- you're quitting, not being fired.

Just read your updates... unfortunately there is not a whole lot you can do. A lot of people would actually be happy to be lumped in with the subordinates and still recieve supervisor pay. If you really think they are trying to force you out due to your age, you will have to find something more concrete than just changing your job description. There are a lot of situations in life that we don't like; you can't sue for all of them. Sorry!
