If you want to end up a french fry go ahead and give it a shot.
Heating oil and cooking oil are way different. The way the burn, how they are processed.....even the "flash point" is different. You may ruin the furnace.

One thing is if your tank is outside the cooking oil would probably gel. There is a chemical they blend with #2 heating oil to prevent this. Or maybe you could try mixing Kerosene(#1heating oil) and cooking oil in small quantities, until you find a blend that's the right viscosity. You could test it in you refrigerator or freezer.
Just some thoughts on your interesting idea.

uh no...you might want to invest in some heating oil for your furnace otherwise you could possibly:
A - Ruin your furnace & have to buy a new one
or
B - Burn your house to the ground

my neighbour is burning old fryer oil in his out side furnace, on low atmosphere days
with wind conditions in my direction i can not sit or work around my yard it makes me feel sick,is this leagal and unhealthy or what?
