The planes collided somehow so one of them was on the wrong flight path, could be human error and it could be bad instruments.....

On the Today Show, one of the passenger's was on the small
jet engine plane on a business trip. He said, there was a loud noise, felt like a car going over a pothole (that's all), then there was an engineer on board - looked out and saw part of the wing broken off, then the small plane started losing it's parts in flight.
They landed safely - found out after landing, that they collided into the jet killing over 100 people, landing in the Amazon. The pilots were detained for questioning.
