a = original flock
b = new flock

a + b = 3a
a + b + 11 = 4a - 13
3a + 11 = 4a - 13

x = original number of ducks on pond
3x = number of ducks on pond when flock lands
3x + 11 = number of ducks on pond after adding 11 more.
3x + 11 + 13 = number of ducks on pond that is 4 times the original number of ducks on the pond = 4x.

3x + 11 + 13 = 4x
24 = x
