One of the most important factors in developing a loving relationship is to become friends, even best friends. You should be interested in the activities and career choice of the one you love. And the very secret ingredient is to be a good listener, one who listens from the heart and speaks truth to the one you love. Trying to please the other person by being dishonest will, in the end, bring pain and separation to the relationship. Being true to yourself is a key to being true to one another. I hope this helps.
