Hello.
If you have been working 26 hours straight, it does not matter what they say. You can NOT go to work. That is based on OSHA guidelines.
If they give you a problem. print this out and show them this letter. Have them go to my website at www.mycollector.com and have them listen to some of the calls that we have had to make to protect our clients.
If they give you a hassle, I will get involved

I always initial the schedule in case it is changed after being posted without someone telling me... it happend once to me. I also copy it and keep it as proof. You were wrong to not look at the schedule. But if you have a set schedule and have had it for two years they should have told you to look at it. So both parties were wrong ;p

Apologise to your colleagues. Promise that it will never happen again & in the future keep an eye on your schedules.
Hope you're not expecting to read something like: Oh it is not your fault. They should not have changed the schedule.
You have been blessed to have one of the most rewarding & special profesion - helping others. It is demanding job. Do it right.

You are right. Whoever changed the normal scheduling had an obligation to tell you ahead of time that things were going to be different this week.

the workers should've cut you some slack, since your schedule has been consistent for so long a time already.
however, knowing your schedule is still your responsibility.
just apologize to them, and watch your back from now on.
coz you never know when things might get ugly in any workplace.

yes you should have looked at your schedule (i do the same thing) but if it has been set for 2 years and all your coworkers knew your schedule was set and if they knew it had changed why did they not say something?. tell your boss to not change your schedule because it distrupts your sleep pattern

Knowing your schedule is YOUR responsibility, even if it hasn't changed in 2 years. It sucks, but it's true.

in doing and organizing shift duties; advance planning is required, you should not except more at 11th hours ,because people live long away and they have their own works. do the duty cheerfully, thinking that no one else can do & this is also a remarkable achievement.
