spring or late summer... the summer heat will just kill the grass thats trying to take hold but the closer it gets to winter the grass wont take either. You gotta make sure you water it often and section it off so people and pets cannot walk on it or dig it up. But keep in mind the laws NM has on the amount of grass you can have cuz there are strict laws regarding that and watering. that is why xeriscape seems to be the preferred option.

Early Spring is the best time. Usually when the last of the freezing temperatures are gone. So Feb. March.

well actually it depends on the weather... and also if you know it's going to frost a few weeks ahead of time, do it in the spring so it can take root. good luck
