Why do people judge other people?

I remember once some classmates judged me cause I made the look like hypocrates. This was back in the 80's when feed the world thing was going on. We were having a debate. well everyone was agreeing with it and finally I said I dont think we should help. Well let me tell ya the whole class fell silent, and this one little snobby nit says its our job to help the poor! I looked at her and said well were you NOT MAKING fun of " Mary " the other day cause her family is poor and she had to borrow 50 cents to buy something for lunch?

LMAO well the rest of the year I was judged as a poor person lover, I didnt care.

Because they are afraid to look at themselves in the mirror and see that they are more like those they judge than they think. The idea (them being like those they judge) frightens the average person so they take it out on others. This is very wrong.

If all people looked at their own flaws and can see how they resemble the people they judge, the world just might be a friendlier place to live in.

IMO - a lot of it has to do with expectations. what you expect of yourself as well as what you expect of others. For example, someone might judge another to be a loser compared to themselves just for something as simple as what you listen to in music; what clothes you prefer vs. what you think is not worth being seen in, etc.. It's honestly hard, not impossible, to go w/o judging someone(s) for behavior that one might consider out of place, or uncouth (there are numerous reasons).
It also ties in with culture and heritage (no finger point occuring). How someone lives or behaves, or percieves (PoV) things in the world and their reaction to it. No matter what you do, a judgement of some nature or other will or can occur. Be careful, for a great harm can occur depending on what occurs because of this act.
For an even greater and pointful example, you will "judge" all the answers given to your question as wether they are acceptable or rejectable. The choice is yours alone and its ok. You know what they say about opinions! :)

If we can focus on someone then the spotlights off us.Most people have an insecurity complex and they judge others so they don't have tp judge themselves.If they did they might not like what they see.

Because people feel comfortable having opinions about what's right and wrong, and they see things as black and white once they establish those opinions. Anything different from what they believe threatens their ideas, so they have to degrade it for their own peace of mind.
