I actually saw this on some show on Discovery Health channel. This girl had had hiccups for 8 days! The doc tried everything and finally just put pressure with his fingers right above the eyebrow and it worked! It puts pressure on some nerve that can cure hiccups.

yes,, hiccups is caused by irregular palpations of the diapragm,,,in order to stop them you must get your breathing pattern reset,, what i have found is best is first you take 7 or 8 quick short breaths , one after another,, then start holding your breath every 10 sec and exhaling very softly ,, and repeat both sets of steps every 10 min until hiccups subside,, usually go away w/ in a few min

Time your hicups
take a good full breath before one is comming then stop breathing untill you feel it pass
start breathing again until just before the next one
repeat the operation for about 3 to 4 times
cures it every time, and taught it to my kids too

The cure is to just sucking in air hold it for 30 seconds then let go. If it doesn't work the first time do it again.

My great grandmother told me this when I was just a tot and I thought she was crazy but it really does work. Take a piece of silverware (not a sharp knife) and put the handle horizontally underneath your tongue. (So that you have a little bit of the silverware sticking out both sides of your mouth. Now take a glass of water and drink it normally with your tongue remaining over the piece of silverware. It takes a little practice before you can do it with out drooling on yourself, so do it over the sink the first time. Good luck it always works for me and my friends/family.

hiccups are caused by spasms in the throat so you need to breathe at a regular rate and relax try not to move too much until they are gone.

Eat a teaspoon (maybe a bit more) of peanut butter. This has worked for my friends and family for quite a long time! I always suggest it to people when they ask.

Good luck!
