Kids who misbehave and don't follow the rules aren't going to be any more inclined to heed a curfew. It would just be another rule to break. It would be another crime to charge them with to shuffle them through the court systems and turn a buck on the fines and fees. Scofflaws aren't necessarily on a clock. I don't see any of them saying it's not 10:00 yet I can't misbehave.

Take it from me. I had many encounters with police as a teenager. Curfew did nothing to stop me from commiting crimes when I was a kid. Zero pros. If anything, convicting kids of stupid things like curfew violations will just alienate the kids, and push them further outside the bounds of being "law abiding citizens." Suddenly a kid that wants to just stay up late is a criminal.

Curfew and reducing riots makes sence.

there are really no pro's to a curfew, i am a teenager and the people who are doing things they should'nt are gonna do it if there is a curfew or not, and people like me who just like to hang out late at night have to pay for it, and thats not right, if me and my friends are not doing anything wrong, why should we get punished for something somebody else did?

A pro would be maybe more kids will stay alive and away from drugs. A major con to consider. Kids are prone to doing something wrong. And forbidding them to be out past a certain time will only make them want to do it more.

pros: hmm... the parents who actually get their kids to stay home... or get home really early.. attempt to spare them from drugs, sex, crime and lots of alcohol.

cons: can force kids to rebel and do whatever they dam well please.

the usefulness of the cerfew depends on how it is enforced.
