The majority of people who talk about politics here would actually have to think for once and would probably end up having a stroke.

New political parties would form.
It is the nature of the beast.
Lucky for you they wrote this out in conserable detail in the Federalist Papers when I believe Hamilton discussed the importance of factions in a representational democracy.
Factions are inevitable in a democracy. A pure democracy is everybody voting their own mind., but; people who share similar desires will tend to ally themselves together and form coalitions or factions designed to increase their political efficacy, their ability to make a change.
This is why the representative from of democracy is so important to the concept of government . In a pure democracies it is possible for a faction to grow to such size that a minority of citizens can in fact rule the majority of citizens much the way it presently does but nobody talks about it. The representative is supposed to have a close relationship with his/her constituency and therefore protect their interests well. The representative is not expected to be part of a faction greater than that but it happens. In fact that is what a party is a faction greater than that of representative and constituent.
Obviously the founding fathers were a bunch of idiots who could not see that parties would form themselves along shared beliefs and a desire for power and control of the government . It was not long before five parties became two and that is pretty much the way it has been since the days of Lincoln.
If you were to knock down all the parties today, tomorrow the same politicians would create new ones dedicated to much the same things only with different names and new symbols. Why? So that they can win elections and stay in office. The surest way to get in office is to be in office. Incumbent almost always win. Why? They have parties to back them up the way celebrities have publicists to keep them famous.
Don't get me wrong, Hamilton, Jay and the rest of the federalists were all brilliantin recognizing the problems. They were just naive in thinking they solved the problem. Even Karl Marx couldn't solve the problem and his ideas were closer to doing so than theirs were. Of course he was talking economics and they were talking politics. The point is that a small group will always run the country because it would take too long to get anything done and thoughts would be muddled and ineffective. The US uses representatives. The Marxist used enlightened people. They are in practice one and the same thing.
But, short and simple, the parties will reemerge.

They would re-form naturally around whatever major issues exist at the time.
Team sports (politics included) do not favor individuals. They favor getting along and going along. Politics is ugly.

Elections would be decided on 1 issue.
I like the party system. I just wish we had more than 2 major ones.

We HAVE to have different parties, or else the Imperialists that run this country wouldn't be able to control us by ALLOWING us to "make a choice" and therefore "feel in control"
