Well, your right that video games should not be called toys. If you have any interest in the gaming world then by all means play them, but if you don't like them than it best to stay away from them. This justs stops conflict between those who like it and those who don't. Not in a mean way, but if your old and have never played video games before than I would not reccommend you playing them. You can't teach an old dog new tricks so it's best to save yourself from all the frustration. Just remember that if you like them by all means play them! I think that any age should have the right to play video games. If you have an important job than don't let video games get in the way. Although they are fun, don't let them control your life. Every gamer knows when to stop, so I do think that adults should play video games. Thanks for the great question and best wishes to you and all gamers alike! ^-^

Respectfully,
GrayFox

Anyone in their mid to late 30's or early 40's was there at the dawning of the video game age. We have been playing video games, literally, all of our lives. It is very normal for us to still be playing games. It also explains a lot about why we feel like our kids "need" to have the newest game or system right when it comes out. Because we are feeling what it was like to be a kid and really wished our parents were standing in line all night for that new Atari or Nintendo...or whatever. Video games are a way of interacting with your kids in a way that you will all enjoy. It is a good way to bond with your kids.
So, YES, grown-ups should play video games...to honor our history and to bond with our children.

Video games were for kids when they first came out, but now that these kids are older, I would say it is for people of all ages. It started off with that generation, because the ones before it were a bit too old to learn how to use the hand-eye coordination in order to play them!

Games are excellent sources for practicing problem solving skills and hand-eye coordination. Adults that play video games are more commonly doctors, or are in business. In doctors, it helps to increase their hand eye coordination and sensitivity in their fingertips, which enhances their ability to work in conditions where they are unable to see their own hands. In business practices, those who play video games are more easily inclined to think of new ways to solve problems, and are sometimes more willing to take chances and come out for the better. And yes, I think it is an excellent idea for adults to play video games.

I say that if grownups know how to operate the video game, they should be allowed to play. (If they don't know how to operate it, they should be allowed to ask their children to show them!) *lol*
