Here's the situation... I got let go from 2 positions since I graduated college.. I was at both positions for only a couple of months (3 for one, 5 for the other), and I was let go for very questionable reasons (at least in my eyes). Both of these positions are within my field of work, so I find it very necessary to add these to my current resume. I definitely don't say that I got let go...I tell potential employers that they were temporary internships, and most of them seem to be buying it since they were only a couple of months long each. I have had a lot of interviews, but get rejected because most say I don't have enough experience.. Do you think it is a front because they found out that I was bending the truth? What can these past employers legally say about me? I didn't get let go because I did anything terrible, such as miss work. I think it because the relationships did not work out, and maybe productivity reasons. Even the employment office thinks I got the shaft.

The inquiring employee can ask anything they want but the reference can legally only give information on what your job title was, dates you worked and if you would be rehire-able or not. Anything else would be their word against yours and could be defamation of character.

I thought they were only allowed to give out the dates you worked there and the fact that you were full/part time and what your position was. I don't think they can give any comments or details about your performance or how the job was terminated but i'm not positive. Maybe do a web search on labor dept in your area and ask them. Good luck

When they call they can ask if you were let go also they can ask if they were interships and you get caught in a lie. They can ask what kind of worker you were and if you were tardy or missed to many days so don't use them
