We purchased a brand new Land Rover, LR3, SE style.(7seats) on April 2006. since then we have had a "check engine" light on the indicator 3 times and we took to the dealership each time it was on. I was worried and it has been OK for a few monthsnow , and today suddenly there were 8 different lights on the indicator, including check engine light. Furthermore, the mileage counter wasn't moving at all, automatic shift didn't shift change even when I step on axel. It was the scariest moment ever since I had my two little boys in the backseats, and I had to drive 10-20 miles/h. Service guy told me hes never seen anything like this before. I spoke with the salesman and he said same things.
Should I request a change to a different car because of returning 4 times for the same problem? I checked Lemon law, and it seems to apply to my case. Is that hard to change to same model car?
Thanks for help

You have a lemon (sorry, it happens to alot of people). Every state and province in North America has a lemon law so the dealership has to replace it with a new one or a full refund is available. You just have to check with your governing law to see how you can excercise that right. The dealership won't rip you off once you mention "lemon". they'll assume you know and won't mess around because hey will get their license revoked. But any lawyer will help you.

This would be a tough lemon law case. The problem has to be the same one and since this time its not it would be hard to enforce it. Call a lawyer. Rover has some problems with their cars but the LR3 has been some what better. However if you do not feel safe in the car get rid of it even if you lose money how does that compare to losing some thing more important?

these things are pigs make them take it back and make them give you full retail less mileage back . if you must have a land rover get a used one then drive it on and off road like you don't care [there will always be someone in a Jeep to pull you out.]
note: as a beater truck land rovers are fairly tough just don't expect any luxury items to work and as long as the fuel injection is working keep a fire extinguisher close at hand.

Does your state have the "Lemon Law" After 3 trips to a dealer for the sameproblem the dealership either has to replace the vehicle or give you a full refund!!!

Sometimes check engine lights go on and stay on for simple things...like the gas cap isn't on tight enough...once mine went on because it needed a new filter in the gas tank because you're not supposed to "top off" the gas when you are filling it up..in any case....you need to think about demanding a return or exchange. You have rights.

Land Rover is well known for poor quality. You clearly have a lemon. I would get a refund and buy a Lexus.

"check engine" light is on because it's low on gas all the time.
this vehicle is a monumental gas guzzler. go back 3 spaces, trade it in and lose your turn.

Who cares how hard it is, it will only be hard for the dealership, you shouldn't be inconvenienced in any way. Get rid of that car.
