Yes. he has an inguinal hernia. In a male baby before birth, the testicles are not in the scrotum but are up in the body. They descend into the scrotum through the inguinal canal, before or shortly after birth. The inguinal canal then seals shut. In an inguinal hernia, the inguinal canal gapes open again, allowing the contents of the body cavity (intestines) to slip through. the situation may be helped temporarily by using a scrotal support, to hold everything where it belongs. But a surgical repair of the hernia should be scheduled. There is always the possibility that the intestine will drop down into the scrotum and then twist, cutting off the intestinal blood supply and causing a piece of the intestine to die. This is a 9-1-1 emergency. So, if he has sudden severe pain in the area, do treat it as an emergency.

That's what an inguinal hernia is. The canal that his testicle traveled down while in utero was not closed off and intestine can now pass through that same canal. If it becomes twisted there or impacted it is a serious surgical emergency. He should get it repaired now before the emergency happens.

Sure. Fairly common. The herniated tissue pushes through the hole left when the testicles descended into the scrotum. It's an easy fix. Usually done as outpatient surgery. They sew a net like mesh on the inside to prevent the tissue from pushing into the scrotum and crowding the boys.

Actually should get it fixed to avoid strangulation of the herinia while it is in the scrotum

My son had a hernia ther, but you may want to ask the doctor if he actually meant that his testicle slips into the hernia.

Ask your boyfriend to have inguinal hernia repair surgery in India.Medical treatment and Surgery is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges all types of surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.

I have also read that they arrange financing for american and canadian patients as all types of medical treatment and surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible.

As a doctor i personally believe that your medical treatment and surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

my cousin got her knee joint replacement surgery and gastric bypass surgery in India through the forerunners healthcare.she is more than very happy with the results.she just paid 30% of the amount she was quoted in USA and is all praise fore this forerunners healthcare company.i personally have seen the wondeful results and am particularly impressed with the kind of quality care she got from this company.hope this helps.

He should get it repaired. My son was born with one and it did that. He wold have screaming bouts and I would take him in. It took forever to see what was wrong. I actually had to strip him down to see what was going on. They had to do emergency surgery when he was 1 to fix it... And guess what? When he was 8 they had to fix the other side.. same problem. The first time he almost lost one of his testicles because it was strangulated... TELL HIM TO GET IT REPAIRED!!!!!
