You could try becoming a veterinarian. That's the most likely to allow you to work with animals, but you're more likely to wind up taking care of horses, dogs and cats than the big cats. That's just the way the world works.

There are also wildlife rescue groups out there... like in Austin we have H.E.L.P. who go around assisting injured horses and other animals. Look into that.

I'm going to college next year to get a degree in biology! :-) I would love to be a zookeeper, or better yet, a zoologist studying in the wilderness.

So first of all, you need to go to college. A degree in biology is good. It ups your chances of being hired than just having a high school degree.Plus some zoos may require it.

Until you graduate (either from high school or college), look at your local zoo and maybe talk to some zookeepers. Ask them what they recommend in improving your resume. Volunteering, internships (only during or after college, I think), and knowledge from going to college.

Different zoos have different requirements, but I'm sure they'll give you a general idea.

As for which college to go to, that's up to you. I'll be going to a fairly small school. They offer plenty of zoology courses, even though it's not a big famous school.

Good luck!

Zoos have lions and tigers. You should join as a volunteer and then get the necessary education especially in veterinary science. You can join some wildlife groups that help animals in the wild.

Wildlife Management. I graduated form Hocking College (in ohio) with an associates in Wildlife Management. You can make some decent money with that...but if you want to work with large prederots it will take at least a bachelors. However if you do get a B.S. go for a masters or doctorate and you can use what ever you want to (pretty much) for a research project for your thesus.
Eventually thats what I am going to do...though i will probably work with dragonflies...smaller and safer for me but every bit as agressive as a lion to othe lil bugs ;)

Hi. You could start by being an activist in environmental protection. This is the one thing most likely to help animals (and us).
