Depeche Mode Flash Question?

Ok, this may or may not be a good category but I have a friends birthday coming up, but we never really BUY anything for each other although we usually do something nice. I've been thinking about it for a decent amount of time, and while my train of thought may change, I think the best option would be to do something with her favorite band Depeche Mode...I can't honestly draw worth a damn to save my life, but I am very good with flash (and programming).

I was thinking maybe I could have a song playing, with some stick figures on a stage singing (pretending to sing with the song) while a slide show of pictures was in the background from the actual band...something of the sort.

My question is, do you think this is a good idea, and can you suggest other similar ideas, if so please do.

Please list good songs as well!!!

This sounds like a really good idea! If I were her I would love to have this type of thing! Depeche Mode is a good band and there are a lot of things that you can do with this as they have a lot of songs that you can use. You could put 2 songs there in the background that play one after the other over and over, or maybe use clips from her favorite songs and make a collage and have it play over and over. The stick figures sounds ok with the idea of real pics in the back, maybe you can find some live photos or footage to use as well, make it look like a real concert. Another idea would be to just have a slide show of pictures of the group and have the songs playing, there are so many ideas that come to mind! Have fun and good luck!

It's a great idea.

There are really cool things you can do in Flash if you have enough visual material handy. I would look at the many fan links - basically raid the web - to get as much raw material to work with.

I don't think it needs to be confined to shots of the group - you can pick the THEME behind any DM song and make it come to life.

Now, there are a few ways to go:

a. Choose one really meaningful song, let it hold the 2-3 min video together, or

b. Do a medley, and have a fast-paced edit style.

c. Take a DM video and do a spoof version of it - i.e. stick her head in place of Dave Gahan's, etc.

Quite a lot of DM songs are really depressing, which you might not want for a birthday (or maybe not - you know your friend better : )

they released a cd called remixes 80 one-04 that has some tremendous variations on it , own jesus will be my suggestion. besides the actual shown reality that any version would artwork for what you've in recommendations........good success! wish your chum likes it !
