Because they want to control what is being said about them, and having then read that message authenticates their statements.

There are a lot of people outside the Parties that run political ads.Some are so far out there the candidates want no part of them. The outside ads (such as by their party or other political group) that closely resembles their platform, they endorse. They don't have to pay for those or list them with the Federal Election Commission.

It's part of the McCain - Feingold law about advertising during political campaigns. It lets the listener know this is the candidate's actual position, not something that a Political Action Committee came up with.

Well, it's understandable when some other organization has shot the ad, but it is absolutely moronic when they say that at the end of their OWN ad. "Hi, I'm Joe Blow, and I love America and I endorse this message." Hmmm...maybe because politicians engage in so much double-talk that they want the viewers to know they REALLY mean what they say in their ad?

Because some commercials are paid for by groups other than that candidates campaign. They want you to be sure and distinguish between what they have to say, and what other people that don't necessarily reflect their opinions have to say.

Because so many politicians are producing false ads that the only way 'the commoner' could possibly decipher who is telling the truth is from the disclaimer on their ads... (sarcasm implied)

Its a Legality..So you will know its the candidate official (supposed) stance on a particular issue
