Because your body isnt used to missing that part so sometimes you still think that it is there. Then after a while your nerves in the part that is left will trigger something in your brain and it makes you think that it is itching when it isnt really there.I onle know this because I have a friend that is missing a leg from a lawn mowing accident, but that is what your answer is....good luck

I think it's called phantom limbs or something like that I was watching a talk show just the other day with a guy that had lost his leg and said that it happened to him regulary I don't think there is any logical medical explaination for this..

The mind and brain still wish to feel the missing limb. It can be a serious problem for amputees.

Their brain still thinks there is a limb there. Gosh that would drive me crazy! Feeling an itch that isn't there! :-S

The mind has still stored past information in it's cells. So until you realize that the limb is actually gone, the mind believes it's still there.
