I use an Albuterol inhaler. But, not for asthma. I am dying from emphyzema. I use it 6 or 8 times a day. Next month the doctors will give me an oxygen tank.

Yup I have used on myself, one winter when ever I went outside I would have an asthma attack from the cold air. One puff and my breathing was normal. I now give it to my daughter, she is 2yrs old, I have been giving it to her since she was 3 months old. That is the hardest thing you could ever have to do because a child thinks you are preventing them from breathing and they just have the natural instinct to try and get away from this thing over their mouth. She has never stopped breathing from an attack, it does sound awful. She gets it every 15min when she has an attack, until the symptoms are over and she has recovered. She also has another puffer called flovent to help her lungs when she is sleeping because she often has attacks during the night or at nap time because it is hardest for the lungs to expand when you are laying down...more gravity.
Best of luck!

Normally a prescription is given as a 'preventitive' medicine, to keep the asthma at bay ... the nebulizers are used for 'treatments' on the onset of an attack ... my son needs one*
I have had a friend literally fall onto the street near a payphone, from an asthma attack -- she died there*
If you have it - get meds for it --

i've never stopped breathing, but i've had some really bad attacks.
You should use it as often as instructed by your doctor, using the recommended/prescribed medications.
If you do have a really bad attack, stay calm and call 911.
