If you have DSL high speed PC service you need filters for your phones and Tivo, it's just an inline filter that plugs in between your phone or Tivo and your phone line. These filters should have been provided by your DSL provider. You may be able to purchase them at Radio Shack. Hope this helped. Regards Joe

When you search through the TIVO Community forums, you will find that many people have had issues with VOIP/Digital phone service and TIVO units. Most of the answers will have you enter a dialing prefix that is in the Manhattan area and use another code to force the TIVO to talk at a lower baud rate. I used this for a few months and then it stopped working. The best and by far the easiest solution I have found was to follow the instructions for updating the TIVO using "Serial over PPP" connection.

All you need is a laptop (or a computer near your TIVO) and a special cable. You can either order one or follow the instructions at this link. http://www.tivohelp.com/archive/tivohelp.swiki.net/6.html

Then use the instructions for setting up the connection:

I have been using this for about 3 months now and regret not trying it before. I wasted a lot of time trying to get certain codes to work with my VOIP provider. How this helps.

Who told you that? I have TiVo on a digial phone line with no problems. Call the phone company and complain. Are you using a direct wire connction to the phone line or a wireless connection? A wireless connection could have problems. Also, you can try searching on the TiVo Community forum under "digital phone" to see if anyone else has this problem (if you get no hits, post the quesion there). http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/
