Eventually the batteries would go dead, but only if you do not use them for a very long time. The same thing with a car, if you dont use it the battery will go dead. To answer the question: " why not the car?" because every time you crank the car the altenator recharges the battery.

Since most cars have a small drain on the battery doing such things as keeping the memory up in the radio stations and the clock running, it will eventually go dead. No where near as fast as your electronic devices of course, since a vehicle has a lead acid battery, not a AAA cell.

a car battery will go dead. However, everytime your engine is running the alternator places a charge on the battery. So it is constantly being recharged when you drive. Unlike a car, a battery in your electronics device is not recharged while you are using it.

Compare the size of your radio batteries to the size of a car battery, and then think about it for a while. I bet you can come up with the answer.
