I am getting sufficient sleep and I am not under stress. It's just if I lie down after 9pm I WILL FALL ASLEEP. I CANNOT STAY AWAKE, whatever I do.

Is there a medical name for this? Any suggestions on whatever I can do?! Thanks

Enjoy!
Relish in the fact that you do not have sleeping difficulties like millions of other people.
I would give anything to lie down and fall asleep.
So don't question it, just enjoy it!

i do this too, i sleep for freakishly long hours and im always tired even if i did sleep sufficiently the night before. It could be mono that you have, because it causes you to be tired all the time, even at early hours when you dont want to fall asleep. Go to a doctor and they can draw some of your blood to see if you have it. If it turns out mono isn't the cause, just try to stay busy during the day and get at least 8 hours of sleep each night. Its also true that if you sleep too much that youre body will be even more tired!

I'm the same. I need at least 8 hours sleep a night, preferably 10. And I can't do a decent day's work if I get up early. I used to do shift work, but I couldn't handle it now. So this disqualifies me from some jobs, but it's not that serious a restriction.Otherwise, my health is good. It isn't narcolepsy; I asked a doctor that. Somewhere I read that if you've got a poor self image, you need extra sleep. Don't worry. I don't. It's much better than insomnia.

Take a melatonin around 11, and you will desire to be feeling superb and sleepy around 12 or 12:30. Then it truly is time for mattress! good success!

I would think that obviously your body is tired. What time do you get up in the morning? You need about 8 hours of sleep, so listen to your body

if you are getting 7-8 hours a nite then maybe you are depressed, so i guess i would say don't lay down and keep active, you may have an underlying medical problem you could be anemic for example

No.. you are just programmed to go night night at 9pm...... I am the very same way... Except for me its 9:30pm... I don't fight it, I just go to bed..... You and I probably have less illnesses than other people. We get more sleep and thus we are healthier

You may be having a low blood sugar attack. It can make one drop off. Check out www.hufa.org for basic info on low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).

Narcolepsy is something I know nothing about, but it, too, is about falling asleep when one does not want to.

Maybe you wake up early and 9 isn't too early for you to go to bed. Different people need different amounts of sleep. Maybe you need more, its okay to sleep more.
