My 92 Nissan altima ac compressor belt is blown out and have to replace a new one. Tried to change it but its too tight to put it on. Do I have to loosten the nut on the compressor pulley?? Tried but it was too hard & had no luck. Is there any other way to do it.

I would appreciate if any one can help me out in this.

Thanks in advance.

There are TWO nuts that you need to loosen. One nut keeps the pully from loosening itself, and the other actually loosens and tightens the pully; you never really need to take any nuts off.

Somewhere in your belt loop system, there is a component that moves and serves as the belt tensioner. It may be the ac compressor or a separate belt tensioner. You don't loosen the pully, you loosen the whole unit. After the belt is installed, you ppull that component tight and tighten the bolts.

Buy a Haynes repair manual for your Altima for less than $15
