India is predominently a Hindu nation where Ramayana is like the bible or the main book of reasons and everything .. everyanswers ... stuff like that .. now they burn the statue of ravana only because as per the book ravana kidnapped Ram's wife Sita (ram is the chief charatcter in the book, hes like a god .) so by doing that ravana commited a sin plus he was a wrong guy who use to terrorise ppl in his land and commit hate crime and stuff .. so he was a bad guy in short ... ravanas effigy is burnt as a symbol of victory of right over wrong and good over bad ...

other demons effigies are not burnt coz they are just demons not necessarily bad people .. they just look gross and stuff ...

According to Hindu mythology Ravana was considered the anti hero.Ravana had to be killed to prove that good will always win over evil in the end, however hard the effort is.
And since Dussera is a celebration of victory of Rama(good) against Ravana(the evil demon),only the effigy of ravana is burnt and no other's.....that's the bottom line of the story.

Possibly because the story of Ravana is better known than most, thanks to the Ramayana, to Ravana stands for all.

The fact that Ravana is king of demons may have to do with it too.

Ask the specific individuals who did this to respond to your question....not random individuals.
