Isolated.
Why did that man suffer with his internal demons and feel so alienated at home that he didn't tell his wife what was bothering him until he was in the classroom after tying up those little girls?
The point of being married in the first place is to create a home, somewhere you can share your worst problems and get help for the demons that plague you. Instead of providing empathy for her nutcase husband so he could get some help, she was out somewhere as a religionist, preaching to some other people.
For shame on his whole family.
