Much as I'd like to hang this entirely on republicans, I just can't. It's been a consistent way that all administrations have dealt with foreign policy for a very long time. We armed the Taliban to fight the Russians in Afghanistan, then we had to fight the Taliban (and fight our own weapons). We did the same with the Shah in Iran. We did the same with Saddam in Iraq. We did the same in Vietnam. And, unfortunately, democratic presidents did it as well. The problem with all these is not looking at the big picture, and only looking for short-term results. That point of view probably has more to do with the hope of being re-elected by presidents than anything else. :(

"at the same time as Reagan armed and educated bin weighted down, " Lie. Reagan neither educated or armed bin weighted down. Bin weighted down wasnt a foot soldier. He became an organizer and financeer. We funnelled our help to the mujahadeen by Pakistani intelligence and bin weighted down were given his funding from Saudi Arabia. Whats better, the mujahadeen fought hostile to the bin weighted down assisting Taliban below the recent call Northern Alliance. "look on the distress the gop made conceivable by skill of the terrorists on 9/11. Do you imagine those murderers would were as effective devoid of the learning that Reagan provided them?" Lie. Reagan provided them with no longer some thing. Their preparation consisted of hijacking planes and flying them into homes. Reagan provided no such preparation. Whats better this preparation took section below Clintons watch.

I am sorry to say you are misinformed about who supplied whom. It was the Jimmy Carter administration that originally supplied the al-muhjadeen with arms. Remember the incident of Carter refusing to send our Olympic athletes to compete in Russia where the Olympics were held that year? It was his protest of Russia invading Afghanistan (for no other reason than they wanted to occupy a warm water port!) Our Democratic congress voted arms aid to the resistance, which included a young Osama Bin Laden as a simple fighter at the time.

I understand you are sick of fighting, fighting, fighting..., like little boys in a sand box fighting over the toys... Just be glad you won't HAVE to volunteer. Self sacrifice is for dummys..., isn't it?

You are ignoring important circumstance that were occuring at the time: Afghanistan had been invaded by the Soviet Union (although technically it was at the request of the then government leader). I am not in love with current US foreign policy, but at the time we were trying to show strength against the Soviet Union, and the Ayatollah's religious theocracy of Iran. We then made the huge mistake of ignoring Afghanistan afterwards. I hope we never make that kind of mistake again.

So you would rather the Russians would have taken Afganistan? That was why they did it. What are you saying you welcome the spread of Communism? Come on you wana complain about it. Lets talk about why they did it. And who could forsee Bin ladin attacking us. We didn't do anything to them. All they are doing is forcing us to submit to their religion or die. That's it all you have to do to make the terrorists go away is to convert. Yea and then you can claim to be a peace full religion but kill nuns and burn down churches over a few words. That history shows to be true. Oh but you wanted to complain about why we helped them out when Russia was invading them.

Bin Laden wasn't the head of Al Queda then he was a volunteer in the Afghanistan Army fighting the Soviet invasion. I guess they left their chrystal ball at home that day.

It's happened all through out history. You give weapons to convince someone to be with you and they turn on you or you help your 'ally' at the time. Can't really blame anyone for this...has happened too much in the past.
