A homogeneous mixture is when the mixture look the same everywhere. Not at atomic level of course, since it is a mixture, but if you for example take out a cubic inch of mixture at one place, it is the same as at some other place.

A homogenous mixture is one such that, no matter how small a sample of the mixture you take, that will have the same properties as the entire mixture.
A heterogenous mixture is one such that, when you take a sample of the mixture, it might have a different % makeup than the main sample.

One of the neat things about the internet is that you truly have the world at your fingertips. When I was in school (back when you had to walk 10 miles through the snow with holes in both your shoes) if you didn't have a good set of encyclopedias at home and you couldn't get out to the library (becsuse of all the snow) you were sunk.......now-a-days, there's no excuse for not looking up all the information you need.......Take a look here and get the information direct from the horses mouth.
