You just missed it... September. September is usually the best of our "summer" weather. September is the month when the locals plan outdoor garden parties, picnics, and weddings... and the month when the SF Symphony, Opera, Jazz Festival and Blues Festival are all playing outdoors. Lots of terrific city street fairs too.

But San Francisco is pretty moderate all year round. Temperature range is about 40-80 degrees F, so it never gets too hot or too cold. Rainy months are usually November through March. The famous San Francisco fog is usually heaviest June through early August. Just always dress in layers (don't bother even packing shorts... we laugh at the tourists freezing in their midwestern summer clothes here in July) and stick an umbrella in your bag, and you'll be fine.

I had spent my Christmas last year in San Francisco. It rained most of the time but I think this is the best part of California that I had been into in terms of weather.
San Francisco's weather is nice, just avoid the rainy season and the Christmas season.

San Francisco climate has a tendency to be fairly lifelike all 12 months lengthy--in accordance to wikipedia the conventional March extreme is sixty 2.5F (16.7C) and the same old low is 40 9.2F (9.6C). March does fall into the moist season (contained in the shape you're accessible in summer time there is very nearly no probability you'd be able to get any rain) yet its no longer reminiscent of the Bay section receives sturdy rain for 3 months--you would get a hurricane or you may want to no longer, and the elements can be of direction marvelous at any factor in the course of the 12 months. on the awesome component the state is likewise at its greenest in previous spring, and this IMHO makes it better appealing than in the course of the summer time (at the same time as extremely some the grasses brown out). in actual reality carry a jacket and bypass your fingers; city has lots to do interior in if the elements turns no longer as a lot as acceptable for an afternoon or 2.

September and October are the warmest but already this year we've had rainfall which usually appears towards the end of October. Generally we'll have 2 or 3 mini-heat waves throughout the year. Last year was a wet one! It seemed to rain continually from November to April. As stated by another, dressing in layers is always wise since we can sometimes experience all four seasons in one day!

I think September is best because it's one of the warmest months and no rain. Any time between mid-April and October is almost guaranteed to be rain-free, just might be a bit windy and chilly. Dress in layers and you'll be fine.

Normally it gets really nice and hot in the middle of october. You wouldn't know that now, it's cool and drizzling, but I'd say 18 out of my 20 Octobers working in SF that's been the case.
