no it comes with a wireless controller in place of the wired one in the core pack.. normal batteries will give you about 6 hours life. Plug and charge kit is essential kit, but one at the same time, if you cant afford it then wait before buying the xbox360 until you can, you will spend too much in batteries.

It comes with the wireless controller with ordinary batteries no charger. This is what marketing is all about.
