A dirty bomb is just a problem with DUST.
As long as you dont get dusted, you are more or less fine
in the short term.
Close all widows and doors and do anything to stop airflow
into the building that you are in. This would include shutting off
any air/heating systems, closing fireplaces etc.
In the longer term, like 5 hours, you have a number of
choices, all determined by how close to the initial
zone you may be, and which way the wind is blowing the dust,
etc. etc - you cant stop all dust, and the " dirty " aspect will
eventually become a problem if you are too close to
ground zero.
In the short term, you just want to stay dust free, -- longer,
iff close, get in a car and get far away - again, close the windows,
turn off the air/heater, and get away.
Unfortunately, you may be joined by thousands of others jamming the routes... good luck, or stay sealed for a bit until
help arrives to clear the way...

Close all your doors and windows and tape around them. Close drapes, blinds ect. Gather every thing you will need to a central location and stay away from windows and doors. Turn to your local emergency channel and listen for further instructions. Unless you have a bomb shelter within several hundred yards of your house, then you would go there. How ever this is highly unlikely so, go back to first suggestion!!

Honestly, very few of us are in any way prepared to protect ourselves against a dirty bomb. You could give most of us a day and we STILL wouldn't be protected against such a thing.
There's not a terrible amount that you can do with the resources most of us have.
So, to answer your question: Die.

well in the first 5 minutes i would put on clean underware ( because i would have mess the ones I had on terribly) then I would go buy everything I every wanted an charge it. (since i would not have to pay the bill.) Then i would spend the time remaining with my loved ones telling stories about how great a life we had.

Have you seen my apartment? It already hit!
Really? Get the heck out of the area, and seek medical help as soon as possible.
