This has been coming for a few weeks now, but I am a guy playing a guy in a play who is also playing a female role as part of the play. In the female role, I am both kissed by a guy and then meant to act like I am all dreamy LOL, and then I am meant to kiss him back. Now we are getting close to rehearsing these scenes. The other actor is a bit more experienced than me. But I am pretty nervous.

Has anyone done a same sex kiss on stage before (I guess technically it's not a same sex kiss, but I guess you know what I mean). Any advice for getting through the rehearsals and then the play would be appreciated.

It is a same sex kiss...not just technically. From what I can gather, your character finds something attractive in the other character and vice versa. Making yourself comfortable means finding out what that is. Reread both of your parts carefully. What does your character see in him? Other than that, I suggest tenderness, hesitancy, and a blush.

I played the role of Clifford in a production of Ira Levin's "Deathtrap" several years ago. Clifford has to kiss Sidney at some point in the play; one of the play's big surprises is that these two guys are actually lovers.

By the time we got to that point in rehearsals, we just went ahead and did it. There was nothing weird about it; it was what the play required. And, if you're an actor, you do what the play requires. Period, end of story.

Got some pretty humorous responses from the AUDIENCE, though; I can tell you that!

Go ahead and be nervous; there's nothing wrong with that. It's rehearsal, after all; it's the time for you to figure out how it all works. Just let the play be your guide; you'll be fine.

It's acting...and I think if you're comfortable enough with your own sexuality...you'll do it with no problem. xP
Just don't think too much of it...I mean, if it was a girl playing the part...you probably wouldn't think much of it...just "a scene where I get to kiss some chick."....

My school...has a performing arts magnet...and this year...there's a LOT less, but last year there were so many gays, lesbians and bi...And our teacher was such a mess...and basically...all the shows we put on were in some form sexual...You can imagine how crazy it got sometimes...So, I've never really "kissed" a girl on stage...but I've humped...I've slapped ***, I've been slapped, I've rubbed up in an "excited" fashion...on a lesbian chicks actually, with big boobs...It's not that big of a deal...I mean...It's a bit insulting when people don't believe I'm straight...but that's my fault...LOL!
Cause the lesbian/gayness really does rub off...so sometimes we'll play around and hump each other...and...some people are like..."Okay..."...That's our highschool for you...
But I'm straight. xP

If you are in character, it won't seem weird. Work on developing your character and understanding what motivates him. Don't worry what other people will think.

I've kissed other girls (okay, it was for beads in New Orleans during Mardi Gras, but still, it's a kind of stage...) It's not a big deal- it won't "turn" you gay. Unless you already are, and if so, then that's okay.

try to imagine someone else while kissing the other actors.that way you can really feel the kiss and the play will be really appreciated.

No way....don't do it....unless of course you like guys....then that's ok...but if your straight, you'll never, ever forget your first guy on guy kiss and do you really want to even have something like that in your memory?
