There are some very simple patterns for beginners. Talk to the people who sold you the sewing machine, as they probably offer classes.

Starting with the simple things, take it slow and read the instructions carefully. Use less expensive fabrics at first, like the bargain table stuff which is always available because fabrics change so quickly.

When you say "create" your own clothing, you may be thinking in terms of original designs that do not require a pattern. Realistically, very few sewers ever get to that point. They do tend to get to where they can take a collar from one and a sleeve from another and make adaptations in bought patterns.

Here's a useful clue: Once you buy a pattern, before you even cut it out, iron the pattern sheets to make them flat, then iron them onto the shiny side of freezer paper. When you cut them out, you will have a sturdy pattern you can use over and over.

Get a couple of simple, easy to adapt patterns and make the different "views" with minor variations. In different fabrics and with different trims and details, they will be very different garments. My last dozen dresses all came from the same pattern!

Go to Wal-Mart or any fabric store. They have patterns or everything from dresses, blouses, tops, skirts, bathing suits, underwear. Every thing for women, men, girls and boys. U just have to go look. They also have books to look through and if u like it, they will have what pattern u could use to create the outfit. U can buy material there and all other sewing materials. Have fun.

Go to Jo-Ann fabric. Some patterns will take you though step by step. But the more I sew, I've noticed that there are steps that are missing. At one time you could learn from patterns. Call the local High School and ask about classes.

Try Simplicity patterns you can get them cheap at Wal-Mart, choose the so-easy patterns on the display turn stile. They have only two or three pieces to finish an item. They're stylish and easy for a beginner.

depend what style of clothes you want t make. you start off with something simple. take one of your skirt as an example. those are easy to make. once you got the hang of it then create you own design. i design my own style or sometime when i see something i like . i make them. it really is simple when you get the hang of it. good luck!!!
