A friend and I were discussing whether the Matthews family from BMW is Jewish or not. I say no, she says yes. Please let me know and if you know which episode says they are, include that in your answer please! Thanks!!!
PS: She says the episode where Corey's parents have a new baby has a rabbi on it...is that true?

they are not jewish, the episode w. the rabi in it was just because there happend to be a rabi whose son was in speacial care aswell as the matthews, the dad just asks the rabi to say a prayer for his son.

Yes, and that should have been obvious with Corey calling his grand mother Nana Boo Boo as in Bubbie. As for the baby , one of the other parents in neo natal intensive care is Jewish and that is how the baby gets the name Joshua. So at least one Corey's paents was Jewish. The people are correct that the kid were married Christian. They did celebrate Christmas but they never go to church or temple either.

I kind of assumed they were Christian. They talk a lot about God in later series, but never specifically say whether they are Christian or Jewish.
They never celebrate Jewish holidays on the show though.
There is a Jewish rabbi in the NICU with the family, but that's because the rabbi has child there too.
The baby is named Joshua Gabriel, but those are names often used by Christian families too (particularly Gabriel, as he is known as the angel who visited Mary).

Possibly at least in part.
Matthews is a Hebrew name.
Also Cory uses small amounts of yiddish especially in later seasons. A Hannakah card can be seen in the Hunter Matthews apartment at one point.
If the Matthews are at least in part jewish it's left ambiguous. They do openly celebrate Christmas suggesting they are at least in part Christian as well.

Yes but all of the actors are Jewish look at the last names and Google each actor in the family. Plus my grandfather is a holocaust survivor we have a family people like to call "black Jews" we grew u celebrating both Christmas and Hanukkah. We didn t go to temple or church. Some of my siblings grew up and got baptized others didn t and dove deeper into their Jewish faith. So it doesn t matter if they celebrated Christmas many Americans do even if it isn t part of their religion

I'm not sure about the Rabbi, but they did have many a Christmas show. So I'm almost positive that they are NOT Jewish. Also, Cory and Topanga had a pretty typical wedding, I don't think they had a rabbi presiding.

ooh!! i use to love that show!! Corey and Tapanga didn't have a Jewish wedding.
