First off, I don't earn a living from servicing MACs (one other poster gave a good answer but you might discount it due to the profit motive). I primarily use linux for my personal work. I use a combination of UNIX and WinXP at the workplace. I have laid hands on most of the OS's out there at one point or another. Here is the biggest compliment that I can give to the MAC (mac-mini specifically OS 10.4), I was able to hand it to an 8 yr old without explaination and she was up and running in a few hours. Of course dad took it for a spin for a few days before her birthday ;-). I like it, it is easy to figure out, and best of all my daughter took to it without too many questions. If you are a UNIX geek like me you will appreaciate that OS 10 is UNIX under the covers. If you are not a UNIX geek, you will never even realize that it is there.

There is probably no true answer to this kind of question because everyone has different preferences. So all I can say is that in my opinion macs are a lot easier (and more pleasant) to work with.
First of all my mac has the same power/features I want without some big clunky rectangular box poking me in the knees all the time. I didn't have to spend hours setting it up - just plugged it in, switched it on and followed the instructions. It comes with a good package of software. I don't have to worry about updates - it tells me what I need and downloads them for me, I don't need to worry about viruses and stuff. All the programs that I want to use are displayed neatly at the bottom of my screen. (PC start menus are my pet hate) I don't get random error messages. I don't spend ages trying to figure out how things work, mac software seems to work logically without having to read bible-thick manuals - I do have a life and other better things to do. Nothing against PCs and I ain't no computer expert - I just prefer to have an easy life!

I went from PC to the Mac PowerBook G4, and I HATED the thing at first. Even though I'd used Macs before, I had almost no idea what anything did or what anything was. About a month later, I had everything figured out and loved it. I still do. The screen is hanging by the wires (I have to prop it up to use it) and I had to replace the keyboard (niece tore all the keys off then flushed them down the toilet), but I've still got it. Except for the screen and the keyboard, it still works just fine.
Macs are also less prone to viruses than the PC, but since we live in a Windows world, it's hard to find software, hardware and replacement parts for these.
I used a PC when I was just starting to use computers. It was pretty easy to switch from one to the other, but file sharing was a problem. Still is, somethimes. It all depends on what you want to work with. Graphics or office programs (Word, Excel, etc., but they have made most Microsoft Office programs compatable with Mac OSX and beyond).
Hope that helps.

I service both Macs, and PCs.
I get to meet folks who are NOT interested in learning about hardware, or programming, or how to re-install their Operating System, or why they need to pay for 7 'subscriptions' to combat virus and malware, and spyware and hackers...
They just want to do email, serious art works, music, movies, hard core GAMES! So, THEY buy a Mac. YES, MAC HAS ALL THE GREAT GAMES!!!
Macs only cost 13% more than a PC (the Microsoft OS "tax" NOT added...). MACs hold their value for years. What is a 2001 Gateway (about $1450, new) worth? $50?
What would you have to pay for my 2001 iMac 700Mhz Graphite, with airport card, running OS X 10.4 on an 80 Gb drive? $280 to $450! It cost $1199 when new.
Service? You go to http://apple.com and grab the phone numbers and ask a question. Walk into any franchisee, and ask a question. You will have a better chance of getting a courteous, correct, answer than in any PC store!!! Try calling Microsoft!!!
HA!!!
The SIMPLE ANSWER is YES!!!!!!!!!! The MAC IS easier to use than the PC when you see the truth of all the software you have to work with, on both platforms!

well whatever computer u use first is the one u will be most accostomed to. i started out with a dell pc,and im so not used to the mac now. i guess if i used the mac first, i would be more used to the mac then pc, but then everything in pc is nearly clearly labled out from close button to theleft and right click, well, not really the left click

i was always told that if you were starting from scratch (no prior computer knowledge), mac is easier. much easier. ludicrously easier. LAUGHABLY easier.
BUT...
we live in a world that is run by microsoft. so, if you come from a microsoft background (like myself, and probably the majority of us), the mac system might be a little hard to get used to after being so familiar with the microsoft system.
in other words, mac is easier, but you've got to get in there quickly before microsoft has the chance to brainwash you into their ways!!
(upon saying that, i don't know how to use a mac and have never really been bothered learning...)

Macs are more user-friendly and intuitive, especially for graphics. PCs are often considered better for office applications but even that is debatable.
