Because they are sadistic, power hungry, evil doers. Getting and keeping power is a drug that's more powerful than opium or crystal meth. These republicans use people, all people: kids, the elderly, religious folks anyone they think is naive or stupid. They enjoy taking advantage of others - it keeps them continually 'high'.

Because they wanted to hold on to power.

To the people why say "We got him to resign" as if the Republicans are taking care of their own problems. Apparently they are forgetting they knew about his for at least 3 years before the story broke last week.

This is not about Foley being gay either. Its about him being a predator and about the Republican leadership covering it up.

It is no different than when the Catholic bishops were protecting pedophile priests.

We could make tha same case for past Demcratic actions. From Mel Renyold to Gary Studds to Barney Frank. & don't even get Us started about Cynthis Mc Kinney hitting cops & Joe Kenndey and his DUI. So I suggest you not throw stones.......
So far a better question is why was this leaked 6 weeks before the election? The GOP has stood up and ditched the guy. The Dems keep folks like this arround.

black and white thinking , extremes produce as the pendulum swings reaction and most deviates tend to actually believe themselves conservative or pretend to be. also a big money donors and power players gonna get their protection no matter their bent.
id say in both parties. less of this sort tolerated in Dem's as Dem's are bigger on kids..but there are more of other sorts.

Some democrats knew about the government scandal too. It's just not huge news like the republican knowledge of what went on. No matter, unexcusable, but both parties are to blame.

If it comes out that Democrats knew of his persuasion, can you justify Democrats as being for children?

How about waiting until all the evidence is revealed before jumping to conclusions.

You're a knee-jerk away from becoming a news correspondent...probably for CBS.

The investigation has just begun. We are not certain, yet, who knew what & when. But it would not surprise me if many republicans knew & said nothing just to keep his seat from going to the dems. But the dems are just as bad, if not worse.
At least the republicans are giving him the boot, now.

The dems seem to defend thier pervs even after they get caught.

They'll do anything to hold on to power. They'd sell the own family if it kept them in office and money.
