Status Quo
They want things to stay pretty much the same. They are what you might term strict constructionalists that want to keep things pretty much they way they are written. What is wierd is that strict constructionalists paint in broad strokes so that changes don't have to be made, or so it seems. So conservatives are more likely to say laisse faire and just leave things the way they are.
From an economic perspective it means let the private sector govern itself as much as possible and avoid risk.
From a foreign policy perspective it means be defensive when dealing with others.
But in general it means less is more.

conservatives want a moral absolute that is based on authority. the theory goes that "if you accept authoryX then moral absoluteY follows". the problem comes when certain politicians use this language and give it lip service in order to impress and earn the votes of the religious conservative agenda. (well, there are many other problems, but we'll just leave it at that...)

Total control and to exterminate anyone who doesn't take their marching orders from them. People who want freedom don't trample the rights of others like they do....See the way they treat minorities for more information.
